Risk disclaimer

Trading foreign exchange with leverage carries a high risk of loss. Please read this page before acting on anything published on this site.

No advice, no recommendation

TOKYO-EA develops and publishes trading software. Nothing on this site is investment advice, a personal recommendation, or an offer to manage money on your behalf. We do not know your financial situation, objectives or risk tolerance, and we are not licensed to advise on them. If you need advice, obtain it from someone authorised to give it in your own country.

We do not hold your funds

We never receive, hold, pool or manage client money. Any trading described on this site happens in an account opened in your own name, with a broker you choose, under your own control. You can stop the software, close your positions and withdraw your funds without our involvement or permission.

Past results do not predict future results

The performance figures published on this site are the results of historical simulations — backtests — run in the MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester, together with a live account published as a public signal. Both are records of what has already happened. Neither predicts, guarantees or implies any future outcome.

Backtests in particular have known limits, and they apply to ours:

  • They are run with the benefit of hindsight over a fixed historical data set.
  • They model spread, swap and execution with assumptions. Real brokers differ from those assumptions, in both directions.
  • Compounded results assume trade size can grow with the account without limit; in practice broker lot limits and liquidity apply, so a compounded curve is not achievable as drawn.
  • A rule set that survived past market conditions can still fail in conditions that have not occurred yet.

Risk of loss

Leveraged foreign exchange trading can result in losses that accumulate quickly, including the loss of your entire deposit. Losing days, weeks and months are a normal part of the system described on this site: in testing, 41.7% of days and 22.7% of months closed negative. The depth of a future drawdown can exceed anything recorded in testing. Never trade with money you cannot afford to lose, and never with funds you need for living costs, obligations or debt repayment.

Software is provided as it is

Trading software depends on your platform, your broker's execution, your internet connection and the machine it runs on. Outages, latency, requotes, gaps and platform failures can all affect results and are outside our control. To the fullest extent permitted by law, TOKYO-EA accepts no liability for trading losses, missed trades, or losses arising from the operation, interruption or failure of the software or of any third-party service it depends on.

Your jurisdiction is your responsibility

Rules on leveraged trading, on the use of automated trading software, and on which brokers may serve residents differ from country to country. It is your responsibility to confirm that what you intend to do is lawful where you live and that any firm you deal with is authorised to serve you. Brokers publish their own eligibility rules and national regulators publish registers of licensed firms; check both yourself.

Accuracy and updates

We take care to publish figures exactly as measured and to state the conditions behind them. Where a number comes from a specific test, that test's original report is available for download. Market data cited from third parties — interest rates, fund yields, exchange rates — changes over time; each page carries the date on which its figures were last checked. If you find an error on this site, please tell us and we will correct it.
